Rochester is really two delivery areas wearing one postcode family, and we treat them differently.
There is the city itself - the streets running off the High Street, Borstal, The Esplanade, Delce and the roads climbing toward Rochester Airport - where gardens are older, walled and often long and narrow. Then there is everything out on the Hoo Peninsula: Hoo St Werburgh, Cliffe, Cliffe Woods, High Halstow, Higham, Wainscott and the Cooling lanes, where gardens are generous, village halls do most of the heavy lifting, and the wind coming off the marshes is a genuine operational factor.

Village halls on the Hoo Peninsula and around Rochester
If you live out on the peninsula, a village hall is very often a better plan than a garden - particularly between October and April. These are the halls we deliver to, with the booking contacts we hold on file:

- St Stephen's Church Hall - a large, open space close to the city centre with unusually good height clearance, which makes it one of the few Rochester venues that will comfortably take our taller inflatable slides.
Village halls throw up a specific set of practicalities that town halls do not. Many have gravel or unmade car parks - fine for us, but let us know so we bring the right trolley setup. Several have a single narrow doorway as the only way in, so measure the door as well as the room. And a good number have low beams, roof trusses or hanging light fittings partway across the ceiling: the number we need is the clear height beneath the lowest obstruction, not the height at the apex. Most of our standard castles need 10ft (3.05m).

It stays your responsibility to check the space and, where you can, to view and measure it yourself - if a venue tells you our inflatable will fit and on the day it does not, we cannot be held liable, and the balance is still payable, because accurate measurements for every unit are published on our website. Wind, weather and the marshes
This is the one piece of Rochester-specific advice we would give above all others. Gardens on the exposed north side of the peninsula - Cliffe, Cooling, the lanes toward the Hoo marshes - catch far more wind than an equivalent garden in the city, and inflatables have a hard safety limit on wind speed. It is not unusual for us to be running happily in Borstal while a booking in Cliffe is borderline.
If your party is out that way, our honest advice is to have a fallback: either a village hall pencilled in, or an accepted plan to move the date. Most of our castles carry fitted rain covers so ordinary drizzle is not an issue, but wind is different. We would rather have that conversation with you a week out than at 7am on the day. You can cancel free of charge up to 8am on the morning of your hire.
Gardens in the city: what to check
Rochester's older properties, especially around the Delce, Borstal and the roads behind the High Street, tend to have walled or fenced side returns and a gate that has not been widened since it was built. We need around 3ft of clear access to get a rolled unit through. Long thin gardens are usually fine - our standard castle footprint is 12ft x 15ft, and we need a little clearance around the sides plus a route for the blower cable back to a socket.
One thing worth knowing: we cannot peg into hard standing, so if your only flat area is a patio or block paving we will use sandbag anchoring instead. Tell us the surface when you book so we arrive with the right kit rather than improvising.
What we bring to Rochester parties
City-centre and Borstal bookings skew towards our standard and themed castles, from £90, simply because that is what fits a typical Rochester garden. Peninsula bookings - where space is not the constraint - are where we send the bigger kit: bounce-and-slide combos and assault courses for village fetes, school summer fairs and the larger family gatherings.
For under-fives, our toddler soft play packages start at £150 and include ball pit, soft shapes, rockers and matting. They are the most popular choice for first birthdays in the village halls, mainly because they work indoors year-round.
Timings, setup and insurance
Garden deliveries across Rochester run 7am to 11am, with collections 5pm to 8pm. For hall hires we work to your booked slot - give us your access time and your clear-down deadline and we will fit around them. Peninsula addresses take us a little longer to reach than the city, so we tend to schedule those earlier in the round.
Every unit is annually inspected to PIPA or RPII standard, all electricals are PAT tested, and we carry £5 million public liability cover as members of the BIHA. Village hall committees are often stricter about paperwork than school halls - several on the peninsula will want to see certificates before confirming your booking. Just ask and we will email everything across.
Common questions from Rochester customers
Do you actually come out to Cliffe, High Halstow and Hoo?
Yes, regularly. The whole of ME3 is within our normal delivery area at no extra charge.
My village hall has beams across the ceiling. How do I measure it?
Measure floor to the underside of the lowest beam, truss or light - not to the apex of the roof. Then compare that figure with the height listed on the product page. If you are unsure, send us the measurement and we will tell you which units will fit.
Can you set up on a patio or driveway?
Yes, using sandbag anchors instead of ground pegs. We do need to know in advance, and the surface must be reasonably level and free of sharp stones.
How windy is too windy?
There is a legal limit we work to, and on an exposed peninsula garden we reach it sooner than most people expect. If forecasts look marginal we will contact you the day before to talk through options rather than leaving it to chance.
Is there a surcharge for the peninsula villages?
No. Cliffe, Cooling, High Halstow, Hoo, Higham, Wainscott and Burham are all charged the same as central Rochester.
Can I keep the castle overnight?
Yes, in a secure and enclosed garden, for an additional charge. It is a popular option for peninsula bookings where our collection round arrives later in the evening.
