Bouncy Castle and Soft Play Hire in Rainham

Rainham is effectively our home turf. We are based just along the road in Gillingham, which means ME8 gets our earliest delivery slots, our shortest journeys and - if we are honest - the parties we get asked to do most often. Twydall, Parkwood, Rainham Mark, Lower Rainham, Berengrave, Bloors Lane, Riverside, and out into Upchurch, Newington and Wigmore.

Toddler parties: what actually works for under-fives

The instinct is to book the biggest castle in the garden. For a room full of two-year-olds that is usually the wrong call, and here is why.

A full-size castle has high walls and a deep bounce, so smaller children get bounced off their feet by the bigger ones and spend most of the party sitting at the edge. Our toddler soft play packages, from £150, are built for exactly this age group: ball pit, soft shapes and blocks, rockers, and safety matting underneath, all at toddler scale. Pair it with one of our toddler castles - lower sides, gentler bounce, smaller footprint - and you get a party where every child can actually join in.

For school-age children, of course, the standard 12ft x 15ft castles and bounce-and-slide combos are the ones to look at.

Community halls in and around Rainham

Rainham has a genuinely useful set of community venues, several of which are well suited to soft play because they are warm, carpeted or matted and easy to supervise:

• Twydall Community Centre - 125a Beechings Way, ME8 6PZ - 07789 392784. Central, easy to find and one of the venues we visit most.
• St Matthew's Community Centre - Drewery Drive, ME8 - 01634 235507.
• Rainham Mark Social Club - a versatile space that handles our standard 12x15 castles alongside party games, so it works for the older-sibling age group too.
• Upchurch Village Hall - The Street, Upchurch, ME9 7EU - 07368 461507. A proper village hall a few minutes out, good if you want more space than a town centre room.
• Newington Village Hall - High Street, Newington, ME9 7JJ - 01795 844637. Just outside Rainham on the Sittingbourne side and worth checking when the ME8 halls are full.

Before booking a hall, get its clear ceiling height - measured to the lowest beam or light fitting, not the roof apex. Our standard castles need 10ft (3.05m). Soft play, being low-level, will fit in almost any hall, which is another reason it suits the smaller Rainham rooms.

Gardens across ME8

The estate housing at Twydall, Parkwood and Wigmore generally gives you a decent, level rear garden with side access - which is why so many Rainham parties stay at home. A few local notes:

• Side gates need around 3ft of clear width. On the Twydall and Parkwood estates that is usually fine, but check for bin stores narrowing the passage.
• Shared or open-plan front greens are not somewhere we can set up - the unit needs to be in an enclosed garden you control, both for supervision and for overnight security.
• Trampolines and washing lines are the two things we most often ask people to move. If yours can come down the night before, the setup goes much faster.
• Patios and paving: we cannot use ground pegs on hard standing, so we anchor with sandbags instead. Let us know the surface when you book.

Early slots, because we are local

Deliveries run 7am to 11am and collections 5pm to 8pm. Being a few minutes away, Rainham addresses are usually near the front of the morning round, so if you need the castle up and ready for an early start this is one of the easier places for us to accommodate that. Hall hires are timed to your venue's access slot instead.

Setup is about 20 minutes for a castle; soft play takes a little longer because everything is laid out and matted individually. Overnight hire in a secure garden is available for an additional charge.

Cleaning and hygiene

Worth saying on a page aimed at parents of toddlers: soft play is cleaned and sanitised between every single hire, ball pit balls included, and inflatables are cleaned down and inspected each time they come back. Every unit carries an annual PIPA or RPII inspection, all electrical items are PAT tested, and we hold £5 million public liability insurance as BIHA members. Certificates go out on request for any hall that asks.

Rainham questions

What is the best option for a first birthday?

A toddler soft play package, ideally with a toddler castle alongside it. It suits the age group far better than a full-size castle and works indoors whatever the weather.

Is the soft play cleaned between hires?

Yes, every item is cleaned and sanitised after each hire, including all the ball pit balls.

Can you set up on the green outside my house?

Unfortunately not. We need an enclosed private garden or a booked venue - shared greens and open front areas cannot be supervised or secured properly.

Do you deliver to Upchurch, Newington and Wigmore?

Yes. ME8 and the surrounding villages are all part of our standard delivery area with no surcharge.

How much space does soft play need?

Less than a castle, and it is much more flexible because it can be spread to fit the room. Send us your room or garden dimensions and we will lay out a suggestion.

Do I need to do anything before you arrive?

Mow the lawn a day or two before if you can, clear away toys, trampolines and pet mess, unlock the side gate, and make sure there is a working outdoor-reachable socket. That is genuinely all.

How far in advance should I book?

For a summer weekend or a school-holiday date, as early as you can - ME8 dates fill first because we are local. Midweek and off-season is usually far easier.
